At the December meeting, the Upper Thompson Sanitation District Board of Directors voted to increase customer wastewater treatment rates by 8.5% for 2024. As customers ourselves, UTSD Board and staff understand the impact of rate changes and do not take them lightly.
This rate increase reflects a difficult reality for the District. Upper Thompson Sanitation District is committed to providing customers with exceptional service while experiencing aging infrastructure and more stringent water quality regulations.
Customers were notified via letter, postcard and newspaper of this possible change and were invited to provide public comment.
UTSD's facility has served the Estes Valley for over 50 years and is approaching the end of its useful life. Critical new infrastructure is needed to comply with tightening federal water quality standards and ensure that UTSD can continue serving our community and protecting our environment.
